Happy 85th Birthday Adam West

I was 10 years old when the Batman TV series starring Adam West as the title character debuted in 1966. Since I was already a huge fan of the Batman comic book it was an easy transition to loving the TV series, which was done in a “comic book” style with exaggerated fight scenes and sound effects like “Bam!” and “Oof!” plastered across the screen.

Today, Adam West celebrates his 85th birthday and one of my favorite non-TV depictions of him as Batman was on this March 1966 cover of Life magazine. I remember practically begging my mom to buy the issue when I saw it on the newsstand rack and she thankfully did. Somewhere in the years between then and now, my copy was sadly lost. But thanks to the magic of the Interwebs, I can present it here to you for your own personal admiration of the original Batman.

The Wisdom of George Carlin

While we were bemoaning the lack of intelligence of some people we deal with the other day, one of my co-workers said something to the effect of, “It’s really difficult to deal with aggressive stupidity” and that reminded me of this George Carlin quote.

I really miss that guy.

Postcard From Mikey & Heather

I finished my workout at the hotel gym this afternoon and as I was walking past the front desk on the way back to my room, Hobbs (yeah, the front desk clerk is named Hobbs) said, “Mr. Wetherington, I have something for you that arrived today.” and then he handed me the postcard below from my oldest grandchildren, Mikey & Heather.

Talk about a day brightener!

I scanned the front and back so I could share it with you.

Sheamus Is Thirsty

The Creek At Wolf’s Haven

Our friend Art and his son Artie were Cindy’s guests tonight for dinner (her homemade spaghetti, Mmmmm) and hot showers for both of them. Art has been building his log cabin up on Sheepback Mountain on his own from the ground up for the past 4 years. By “on his own” I mean he cleared the land, cut down the trees, stripped the bark and laid each log for the walls, framed the roof, hung doors and windows, and this week he and his son are chinking the spaces between the logs in order to hold in more heat this winter. He’s done it all!

While visiting Wolf’s Haven this evening, Art and son Artie (with Artie’s GoPro camera) took a walk down to our creek and I thought I’d share it with you. This second video is a shorter one showing the creek flowing.

Makes me homesick 🙂
