Disappointing News – HBO Not Producing Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods”
Bad news yesterday when it was revealed by Neil Gaiman himself that HBO would NOT be producing the TV Series based on his best-selling Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel “American Gods”, which had been rumored for the past few years to be in development with the media giant.
The disappointing news came to light during a recent Reddit “Ask Me Anything” chat with the renown author when he was asked about the status of the production with HBO.
“There is an American Gods TV series in the works. It’s no longer with HBO. The moment that things are ready to be announced I am sure they will be, either legitimately or via a leak in a big Hollywood Agency mailroom.” – Neil Gaiman
Fans of the novel had long looked forward to the story being brought to the small screen and were especially hopeful that it would be done through HBO, which does not have the same programming restrictions that non-cable networks must work under.

Abby and Jade Enjoy Afternoon Tea
We were already babysitting Jade while her home is being packed up for their move to Texas so we picked up Abby early from daycare and, thanks to Cindy’s mom (the girls’ Great-Granny) had an afternoon tea for the girls.

We Do Love Our Conspiracies
This Friday, November 22nd, will mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. If you were living then, you almost certainly remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the horrible news, even if you were too young to fully understand just how horrible it was.
CBS News has the results of a new poll up on their website indicating that a majority of Americans (61%) believe that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone in shooting President John F. Kennedy.
We Americans DO love our conspiracy theories.
I don’t really find this surprising. I remember my mother telling me at various times through the decade following the assassination that those responsible were:
The Mob
The CIA
The Cubans
The Russians
The Democratic Party Leaders
Congressional Leaders of both parties
It was probably that cavalcade of possible conspirators and co-conspirators that nudged me toward the position that Oswald acted alone; that he was just a sad, lonely man who had never achieved anything and could only assure his name would be known by taking the life of someone much more accomplished than he could ever be on his own.

Guide to Interacting with Introverts
I’m not sure I agree with EVERYTHING in this “Guide to Understanding the Introverted” but, speaking as an introvert, it DOES have some good points.
Jade Sleepover
Our youngest granddaughter, Jade, is spending the night with us tonight. Jade, her mommy, daddy and little brother are all moving to San Antonio, TX next week so we are trying to spend a little extra time with Jade before she moves away.
We had a delicious meal and then settled in to relax for bedtime. First, Jade played a pirate game (she LOVES pirates!) on Grandma’s iPad and had so much fun finding buried treasure and sailing on the ocean.
Then we had some good-spirited competition playing “Go Fish”, first with just Jade, Grandma and Granddad, then with Great-Granny when she joined us for the last two games. I think Jade won most of the games.
Then it was time to brush our teeth, unbraid our hair, call mommy and daddy to say “Good night” and then climb into bed to go to sleep to the sounds of princess songs and music.
Going to miss the little scamp!
Merchant Surveys
Last week, in the course of one day’s worth of shopping and eating out, I collected 6 receipts that also contained pleas for me to go online and complete merchant surveys. All but one of them promised a “chance” to win from $250 to $1000. The one that didn’t make that offer instead offered a code for $4 off on my next visit.
Now, here’s true confession time. I’ve been filling out these merchant surveys on receipts for years and when I say years I mean at least 10-11 years. In all that time I have never, ever won any money. Not even a penny. I thought that eventually the odds would tilt in my favor, if these “chances” are legitimate, but it’s never happened.
Does anyone EVER win merchant surveys?
I’ve decided that, other than those that offer money off on the next visit, I will no longer use my time to take these surveys. From now on, if they want me to play they’re going to have to pay.
By the way, in case you were wondering, those aren’t my receipts in the picture. Mine were all crumpled up in the wastebasket and I had to get this picture of receipts off the web.
