Poor Spider-Man; Reminders Are Everywhere

spidermanshoppingYou know, there you are minding your own damn Spider-business by taking care of a little grocery shopping because Aunt May doesn’t feel well and suddenly, without warning, a simple box of rice reminds you of your terrible loss. Life is hard for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Thanks to my brother for this one.

Weird Sex Laws In The U.S. Mapped Out For You

From the almost benign Iowa law that prevents kissing for more than 5 minutes to the mind-boggling Texas law against owning more than 6 dildos to the “I-don’t-even-want-to-know-WHY-they-had-to-make-THIS-law” in Oklahoma against bar owners allowing simulating animal sex in their bars, here’s a map of the weirdest sex laws by state in this country.

Oh, and don’t even think of marrying your first cousin in Utah…unless you’re older than 65.

What We “Googled” In 2013

google_trends_2013_300pxGoogle, which a huge percentage of the world uses to search the Internet (unless you don’t want your searches tracked, in which case you use DuckDuckGo) has released its list of top searched subjects in 2013. You can see the trends globally, or by country using the drop down filter at the top. Here are the Top 10 Search Terms in the U.S.:

I only searched for 3 of the items on this list; Nelson Mandela, iPhone 5S and James Gandolfini. How about you?

Decorating The Tree

Earlier this evening Cindy, her mom and dad, and I decorated their Christmas tree. We had a wonderful time sipping Eggnog (OK, I was the only one enjoying the nectar of the gods), listening to carols and hanging what seemed to be at least a thousand ornaments and decorations on the tree. It was a lot of fun. Here are some photos.

Here’s a shot of the tree in all its glory after we finished decorating.

Maggie Valley, NC ornament

My favorite ornament, even though Cindy and I didn’t even know each other in 1993 and no one would have had even a small clue that we would end up living in that wonderful place.

Abby Topping The Tree

Sunday morning I helped my mother and father-in-law put up their lighted Christmas tree, but we did not do any decorating. After we returned from our Neighborhood Santa Event on Sunday evening, we thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and have Abby put the angel on top of the tree before we added decorations. Here are some photos of Abby on Granddad’s shoulders helping to put the angel on top. Thanks to Abby’s mom, Amber, for the photos.

As  you can see, she was a little too scared to let go of Granddad and put the angel on with her own hands. 🙂

Sunday Evening’s Neighborhood Santa Event

Yesterday evening the neighborhood that my in-laws live in had a visit by Santa for all the neighborhood kids, courtesy of the nearby Orlando Fire Department Station and their dedicated firefighters.

Cindy and I, along with our granddaughter Abby, her mom and Cindy’s mom and dad, all made our way to the designated location at the appointed time and here are some photos from the event.
