Howdy! =) Oh…wait…first!! LOL
Hi Jeff
Looking forward to your blog!
Dez
lol….love it..thanks for the laugh
Groovy!
I always thought the elliptical was easier than the treadmill. Maybe it’s just kinder in my knees. Keep it up…. Cross training is good for you!
The elliptical, the first time I got on it, killed my left knee and I got off after a minute and went back to the treadmill. Today it wasn’t a problem for the knee, which was the only reason I was able to stay on as long as I did. I’m taking it as a challenge now to increase my time on it, lol.
I’m glad to see you used the correct word horde in this…. 🙂
I want the galaxy one
Wow, yeah! That’s a nice one! http://society6.com/product/Guide-to-the-Galaxy_iPhone-Case?model=iphone5&page=3#9=124
Hugs to you. I think it’s cool when people find the one person they’re supposed to be with. Not everyone does.
What a wonderful story. Glad you shared it with us. Happy Anniversary to them both.
It is wonderful when a couple can come together and marry for life. My parents were married 62 years when my dad passed away 2001 and my mom died in 2005. That’s the kind of love that last over a long, long period of time!
That was very thoughtful of your co-workers.
Glad you’re going to have some home time for a bit. =)
It was great fun to see them.
It’s snuggle time! LOL But I agree – couldn’t do that to my dog. I’d eat leaves and bark before I’d do that.
If you did take the rocking chair with you, I’d be worried about grandma!
Awwww. I thought that was where you rode!
[…] It looks like they had fun. […]

Hi Jeff. Glad to see you made it home ok even though you had a very close call. Since you’re breaking up with Facebook, you’re going to have to give me a tutorial on this Google Plus thing. I signed up under the name PunkiePicasso. Enjoy your home time!!!!!
Desiree
Lol
Hi Desiree! I had a request to add you into my circles today under your name Desiree Franklin and did so before seeing this comment. I just tried to find PunkiePicasso and Google+ said it had no such user 🙁 So, at the moment, I have you in my friends circle as Desiree Franklin. Let me know if that should change.
I always recommend Google+ newbies add +MartinShervington to their circles. he has great information for people just starting out in Google+ and has these special sections on his Google+ page:

Jeff, family is everything and as you already know you have a great one!
Very cute!
Thanks, but what about the kids????
Nice pictures
I laughed the whole way through
Off again? No rest for the weary! How long to you think this deployment will last? Beautiful cloud pics!!!!
Not sure yet how long this one may be, it’s usually hard to tell early on how much time will be needed. Plus, they’re looking at possibly adding some counties. Thanks for the kind words about the clouds 🙂
Holy Crap Jeff! I’m so glad you’re ok. I’m sure your family is freaking out! You may want to visit a dr just in case. Sometimes you’ll notice some other hurts in a fee days. Take care and feel better soon.
Thanks Dez 🙂
I am so glad that you walked away from this. I wish I was there to take care of you. Be safe my love.
I agree, if you feel anything requires a longer look, don’t hesitate to get with a Dr. I have a feeling tomorrow will be a very painful day for you. So glad it wasn’t worse!!
Am sooooo thankful you are OK!!!! Have had some experience with airbags and ‘feel’ for ya regarding chest impact! Car looks scarry!!!
Glad you are okay, Big Guy (bonus points if you can name the sitcom where one of the employees kept calling his boss “Big Guy”). Probably the most painful thing you will have to go through is all the FEMA paperwork. (;0)
“As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!” HAHAHA! You are right, Jeff about the answer and WKRP in Cincinnati being one of the best sitcoms ever.
I was always told that the reason a person feels so stiff after an accident isn’t because of the impact. It’s because for a split second on impact, all of your muscles tighten and stiffen — a protective measure, if you will. I don’t know if that is true, but it sounds plausible.
Anyway, stay safe. I don’t want to hear about you getting into another car wreck. (;0) Who is the EA lead there?
That is the absolute best scene/line I have ever seen on WKRP.
My second favorite scene/line is when Carlson’s son comes home from military academy and says to Venus, “You’re black.” and Venus starts freaking out like he never realized he was black until the kid told him. 🙂
EAO right now is Julie Bradford, but she will probably be heading back to her CORE job in LA at the end of next week and then her deputy Ross Fredenburg will assume the EAO duties.
Jeff, whether you feel it is necessary or not it is very important that you get everything checked out. You never know in a week or two or even a month you will have something come up that needs to be documented and needs to have attention .
Great pics Jeff!

My husband and I were discussing this this morning. Many people mistakenly thank a current military member for their service but isn’t this day meant to remember the fallen? Veterans’ Day is meant to honor current people serving. Not that I don’t think a thanks everyday to our service people is in order but today is for those that have made one of the ultimate sacrifices.
You and your husband are absolutely correct. Today is a day of remembrance and honor, Veterans Day is a day to thank current and former members of the armed services. As you pointed out, a lot of folks get them confused.
Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Awww!!
Glad to know Jeff. Thanks for sharing.
Now you’ve made me curious on why this mission has brought your spirits down….
I know, I realized that after posting and I apologize because the reasons aren’t really for open discussion. I messed up trying to make the point that I felt so much better after soaking up some positive vibes and atmosphere. Thanks for reading 🙂

That’s such a great picture, I don’t think I have seen that one!! Thank you 🙂
Great story. You have certainly aged very well. Btw. Happy Birthday Ann
Lol, what is that Cindy, a “nice” way of saying I look better now than I did then? Ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Sounds very interesting. Glad you had a chance to do it
That is one sharp suit! LOL!
How cool, thanks for sharing!
Yeah, yeah, laugh it up Dez 🙂
Glad to see you are getting some more home time. Will you be going out again soon or be able to get back up to your cabin and enjoy the NC weather for a while?

Lol, true, but you’re younger and can handle it better than this old man.
Wow
So cute!!!
Wow, that’s really good writing!
I miss Paris
Most of those I really couldn’t tell you but yes on the last one, I’ve definitely had reality sounds in my dreams and it’s always weird to wake up and realize at least some part of my dream was actually happening! That one where I dreamt my cat was puking while I was riding a unicorn… sadly only the cat puke part was real.
Gosh, I can’t count how many times one of the kids has dropped an ice cream cone or something I just bought and yep.. went back and bought another. Certainly didn’t ask for another one for free. It would have been NICE but wasn’t at all expected.
It was fun 😀

Those animated gifs are too cute! Heather and I may give that a try on our next TJ trip 🙂
I don’t believe that was of me, I think it may be of a classmate of his. Not 100% sure though.
Thanks for weighing in on it 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it. =) Great photos, too.
Mikey, who loves him some puns, thought that was great!!!
Sometimes I forget how crazy it was cause it’s been so long but yeah, we really got hit hard. Also… those gas prices…!!!
That should be every parent’s motto if you ask me!
Never will. When I think of what all of those people went through that day my heart breaks.
That definitely sounds like something fishy is going on and it doesn’t really surprise me. I don’t trust any of those companies. Good thing you will be back here soon!
Yes… You have been missed! I thought it was weird that insane no blogs from you. Hopefully, you’ll get the Verision “situation” resolved. When will you be back in O-town?
Thanks Dez! We’re driving down 2 weeks from tomorrow, on Monday October 27th 🙂
Hey, I only used .8 GB on my wifi this month, maybe you would like to try mine.
Wow, that’s fantastic. I should do that as well. I sure am walking a lot right now! 🙂
Yes! Look up my account when you get the app. 🙂
I was indeed disappointed! 😛
assassination of President Kennedy 51 years ago today signal the end of America as we knew it. Some say its when we lost our innocence but I say it’s when we lost the true spirit and freedom this country was founded on. We have been trying to get it back ever since!
Lovely photo! =)
Freedom from want is one of the most iconic paintings the Norman Rockwell levered it. I have always looked his artwork and I also love the painting he did there was a triple image of himself. He had a real mind for the life of Americana and how we were. I hope that is art lives on forever!
Happy Thanksgiving Jim! Rockwell DID capture the sense of Americans and their lives in a way that few others did for his time. Thanks for commenting.
In 1973 my brother was a stockbroker for the company that was one of the main patticipants for the original OI on Wendy’s. A very limited number of ppl made very much money on that deal, and thus-Wendy’s was born…
That’s funny!
Awesome! I am pretty sure the TV here doesn’t have a USB port so I won’t be getting one for quite a while!
Lol, yeah I’m SURE that TV doesn’t have a USB port.
Well, you know I love your favorite #1 traditional!!
Yes I do! 🙂
I like these 😀
Great pics and what a lovely event!
I’m glad 🙂
Thanks, and yes it was 🙂
All that mayhem around him and Superman still has a smile on his face!
🙂
Good one 😀
Spoon!! 🙂
My favorite Christmas movie has always been Miracle on 34th Street. I don’t really have a favorite cartoon though, I like them all 🙂
Yeah, it’s funny because “It’s A Wonderful Life” was never meant to be a holiday or xmas movie; it just kind of become a holiday favorite by the will of the viewers.
Thanks for commenting 🙂
You know, I honestly wondered if it might be something like that. I knew Granddad passed when there would have been holiday music playing. I’ve got songs like that too. *big hugs*
Hugs back 🙂
I hope no kids saw that one! 😀
Lol! Yeah well, not even many adults see these posts so I’m probably safe 🙂
I like this one 😀 Very Christmasy!
Love you!!!
Yeah, thought my last two should be more Christmas-centric. 🙂
Love you too Princess!
I feel like I ought to know who he is, but just not sure.
Yes, you ought to. Email me with who you think it is.
Glad you both had a wonderful Christmas with the family! And I agree with you about the theater. It’s why I usually wait until the end of a movie’s run when the theater is half empty.LOL
Yeah, there’s very few movies I’d want to see when they open (mostly superhero or sci-fi and fantasy movies) but we have a tradition of seeing a movie on Xmas day and that’s the one Cindy wanted to see so we did. Me, I’d rather wait to see it on HBO or Netflix or PPV where I can enjoy it in the comfort of my home.
And a very nice day was had by all! We used to go to the theater on Christmas, but the one here in town closed down and I loathe going to the ones in Asheville for many of the same reasons stated in your blog. You’ve had a Merry Christmas so let me wish you all a happy New Year!
Thanks Tina. I heard you OD’d on cookies, lol. Glad you and yours had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year as well. Jeff
That is pretty cool!
I honestly can’t pick a name. It’s driving me nuts. Email me with who it is!!
I remember my mom having this one and I read it when I was a kid. She said it was one of the first ones she ever bought.
Now that’s pretty cool!
Holiday traditions are wonderful, from the holiday feast to catching a movie on Christmas Day, those memories with your loved ones are priceless. Thanks for sharing your family photos. Wishing you a happy holidays!
That si very cool congrats! My husband loves to do reviews on TripAdvisor =)
That’s pretty cool that they do that! You should try to double your 2015 reviews and see how many people you could help 🙂
Cool..now I know where to stalk you. 😉
Lol!
Happy New Year Daddy, love you!!!
Love you too Princess!!
Well, it’s not a resolution per se, but I am back to dieting after the Christmas holiday. Thankfully I already quit smoking, so no need to worry about that! I would also like to get more rest but…let’s be realistic here.
You’re already ahead of the curve, lol. I know you’ll achieve whatever you set out as a goal. 🙂

Amazing! My parents had the same record player in the living room. Yes,it did take up most of the wall. The other player they had was a stand alone and was Webcore. I think we are dating ourselves! LOL
We most assuredly are! 🙂
I tried to grow a beard three times, each time I was traveling to Europe. I asked myself why and realized I was trying to hide who I was. It is like the terriorists we see on TV. My friend a Professor always wore a beard and wanted me to. But again I told him he was hiding behind it.
ROFL!!!
Thanks for the memories. We had the exact same equipment in our house. When my parents graduated from HiFi to Stereo, I inherited the hifi turntable and speakers…loved listening to the Beatles, Beachboys, Johnnie Mathis, etc., etc. Haven’t thought about these methods of listening to music in years!
Oh, so little and cute!!
Looks like fun!
I remember those ads. My mom never let me send it in but I always tried to draw the sample.
Yikes, glad you are feeling better. And yes, glad you aren’t going to die. 🙂
I love these comics I remember my young years thanks for sharing!
I can’t tell you how many times I practiced drawing the dog in a similar ad for up-and-coming artists. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
I say #MakeSomedayHappen even if its just for fun, do it! I remember those old ads selling one thing or another that as kids you always wanted. Beautiful memories indeed!
Damn skippy!!!
Lol!!

just read this right now. I know how you feel as I remember the dates of the pest that I have lost. They are truly members of the family and even though time passes is silver sad remembrance. The good news is I also like to remember all the good times we had.
I am still SMH over that Randy Quaid clip.. But welcome back!!!
I had this happen two years ago telling me my mother was in an accident. I said that was amazing since I buried her eight years ago. They immediately hung up.
These kind of people are scum and I can’t even write here what I would like to do to them.
Ahhh ok… I was wondering about that since you never followed up to tell me why! How horrible some people are 🙁
Yeah, sorry I forgot to tell you about it on Tuesday. But you probably forgot to ask too, lol.
{{{hugs}}}
Thanks Michelle. I know that, sadly, you’re familiar with this kind of sorrow as well.
Great pics and video!!
Thanks Princess! I have some others I’m going to post in the next day or so, but wanted to get these that dealt specifically with the walk up as quickly as possible.
Thanks for linking to Modern Beard 🙂

Thanks so much for your kind comment on my recent post. 🙂
You were able to capture such vivid colors in this photo series — very nice!
It looks like a gorgeous day at Cranes Roost park and you got awesome pictures of the family! Great memories!
That’s quite a clan you and Cindy have there. =)
Hey very well remember that song in fact probably dance to the couple of times. I also remember Earth, Wind and Fire it when I was going to school and law school in Atlanta saw them on several occasions at the Omni. I always liked Phil Collins and I feel that this song was one of the best he ever put out!
Jim, I salute you! If I had tried dancing to it, folks would have thought I was having some kind of seizure.
Wow! It looks like it was a perfect day with your big family! Wonderful, vibrant photos, too! Kudos!
Lmao at J’s hairstyle.. I bet you are glad to have those pics of Grandma, Granddad and Nana there though 🙂
Very much so 🙂

Happy Anniversary you two!
I do as well! I’ve got no interest in being buried, never really have.
I feel the same way. Donate organs first, and if disease, then to med schools.
I didn’t know that about you. I’m the opposite – I can see variant shades of colors…and thanks to my artist mom, know the color names, too. LOL
I tend to pick up things here and there, too. Even if you don’t use it, it’s interesting to see how others flow through their workday.
Yes, it is. 🙂
OMG-there are three of us!
Lol, Jim!
Wait wait wait… you had one question and you didn’t ask him “Why didn’t you marry my daughter???” Haha.. yeah, maybe still a little crush 🙂
Lol! I wanted to make it count, ya know?
It looks like my desk and Abby complains it is messy

Oh I am so sorry to hear about both Cindy’s friend’s partner and the 1 yr old 🙁 But wow, you certainly were busy when you write it all out like that!
Great post 🙂 Yesterday was my “Holy crap, in a month I’ll be 40” moment lol.
Lol, you know my 40th never really bothered me. What really made me aware of my mortality, if you will, was when your granddad passed away a few years later. I’ve since read that the feeling is pretty typical with the first loss of a parent. Wish I had known beforehand so I could have been better prepared for the feeling.
But I’ll totally post a “Lordy, lordy, AnnMarie is Forty” note on your wall next month, rofl!
I think age is more attitude than looks anyways. LOL As long as you’re happy, that’s what counts.
As I used to read in your bio, Michele, “Age ain’t nothin’ but a number!” 🙂
Don’t worry, you’ll get through. Just as I get comfortable in one decade, another one looms…4 years down the road I’ll be reaching the age of 70. Can’t even comprehend those numbers!
I definitely understand that and can be that way myself as well. I did go out on a limb with Empire and I am not sorry yet, but I’ve still got that ‘successful conclusion’ thing to worry about at some point!
I hate when series I try get cancelled, but I figure if I don’t watch them, I might miss out on a good show that ends up staying.
Wow! That was pretty awesome 🙂 I hadn’t even known about one of those pictures. Thank you, Dad, you’re the best!!
That was beautiful! Happy Birthday Anne Marie
This is a beautiful tribute to your daughter Jeff! Happy birthday Anne Marie!
Haha, he sure is. Love this picture 🙂
Too funny!!!
Yikes, be careful!!
Yeah, some areas of a city don’t age well, do they. At least you’ve moved on.
That must have been really difficult. it seems like they have worked very hard to be thoughtful and keep the victim’s memories alive.
It was very difficult; the horror those people felt just seemed to seep right into my being, and the awful sadness was almost palpable. I know we need things like these memorials as a people, and some people need them in order to heal, but I just don’t think I can personally attend one again. And you are right, the museum and the memorial are very respectful, it seemed to me, of the victims and the survivors and the loved ones who either lost one of their own or have lived with the injuries their own suffered that day and in the days since.
I see cotton candy!
Lol, I post a photo of baseball players, a beautiful sky, happy people in the stands…and you see cotton candy!
I don’t know if Heather has a fear of clowns or just people in costume period. She’s refused to go near Santa or the Easter Bunny as well.
That’s interesting, because she likes creating and applying costumes to her characters in her online games.
Yep, she’s a strange one 🙂 She loves wearing costumes too.
Wow, I’m surprised Mikey smiled for so many pictures! He’s usually done after 2 or 3. Great pics 🙂
He was great! He even reached over and put his arm around Heather’s shoulder in that Shrek photo without any prompting.
Omg, too many good ones to pick a favorite!!
I always get butterflies when talking to strangers no matter if it’s one or a group of them. But the more I do it the less nervous I get. I suppose it’s easier to treat it as an interview than dining with a stranger.
[…] Next month will mark 5 years since Wolf passed away at our cabin in 2010. It sounds strange to say it, but losing him was like losing a member of our family, but then maybe not so strange because he was in every way. I wrote about that horrible day a couple of years ago. […]
Wow, way to go!!
Thanks!

This was all very interesting to read from someone who doesn’t know a whole lot about comic books 🙂
Heh heh
I remember my grandmother soaking her cherries in brandy before adding them to the fruitcake. They were in a giant enameled dutch oven for weeks. She can’t make them anymore, and I miss them. I am so glad you shared this with us, thank you! It brought back memories for me, too.
So sorry for your loss Sherf and Cindy! It seems that some of the dearest people to us leave us way too soon. Always remember the good times and always remember the love! Jim
What a beautiful tribute! I feel the same way about Art. He was, without a doubt, the kindest, sweetest soul I have EVER had the privilege to know. I am still trying to put together some words to share. My heart is so very heavy. Thank you for sharing this…Karen Sather Hoskins
I worked with Art for roughly 17 years. I can honestly say, he is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was the eternal boy scout. He always wanted to do his best and help others. He was so nice, I often teased him about it, but it was impossible to know him and not to love him. I will remember the his boyish smile and the humorous light in his eyes forever. Death is just a door and I have great hope we will all have the pleasure of his company again.
YAY!!!
I’m liking this only so you know I’m supporting you and and I’m on your sides. I can’t even come up with words for anything else. *hugs*
God grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference. When taking ones inventory, easy to say, not so easy to live. Every action has consequences, yes? My greatest pain has been the result of seeing my truth and it’s consequences. So my greatest strength has been this prayer and it’s direction for action/non action. You are an honorable, soulful man Jeff and I am ever so thankful for knowing you.
Damn dude… that IS deep. Hope you find peace with yourself with your actions or inactions.
Forgive yourself for not having the foresight to know what now seems so obvious in hindsight.

Cute!!!
One of my favorites of theirs 🙂
It was!!! I’m still proud of my Pats 🙂
Wow, I never would have guessed at all those reason for hacking. Glad yours didn’t turn out to be so bad!
Sometimes, even in this day and age, I enjoy having the CD even if I listen to the songs digitally and never open the package. I will say, however, that the news doesn’t surprise me.

One day I was only checking one thing and must have had my mind on something else, and I walked out without paying. I was checking my bank account (as I often do) to see how much money I had left and realized there was no debit for that item. I took it back the next day and had them rering me at customer service to pay for it. They looked at me pretty oddly, but they did it. However, it amazed me that it could even happen. The stores are so busy that noone even noticed and I can see now that it probably happens a lot!
Wow, sounds great!
Haha, that is not the only reason I am going! I mentioned the cosplayer book to Heather and she was very excited about it!
I put it in the mail to her on Friday so hopefully it is there in the next couple of days.
That is really cool 🙂
Happy Anniversary early you two! Enjoy the trip!
I don’t think I really have a favorite, I like most of them. I have a most hated cereal though; Grape Nuts! As a kid I could not comprehend why anyone would subject themselves to that nastiness and as an adult, I’m still not sure. Bleh!
I don’t care much for Sonic either, but the kids like it from time to time. NoTY on the Pickle Juice Slush… gross.
Maybe they could use that saved money to package some of their books better! Just a thought…
Great pictures
Did you go in the basement? 🤣

What a great trip with so many awesome memories!
Well, there is “Summer turns to high” by R.E.M. , but amazingly that is NOT my favorite song with the word summer in it. That would be “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince!
Happy new year!
I feel like I spent most of 2019 just surviving, so I want to thrive in 2020. Travel more, write more, live more. I wish I could afford to buy a house but that’s not going to happen for a while. LOL And I’d love to see you and Cindy again. I hibernated most of the year due to my MS and depression.
We were just talking a couple of months ago about how we wanted to see you and Rhonda. Schedule is tight until the end of March (longer if I end up staying in Puerto Rico) but hopefully when I’m back for an extended period we can all get together.
Best wishes on your goals for 2020!
Great story. I like happy endings.
Glad the driver was honest and kind enough to bring it back to you. Losing a phone is a nightmare!
Jeff we got hit with a double whammy. We traveled to Pennsylvania so Judy could get 6 weeks of treatments, All was fine for one week. Then hotel abruptly stopped the morning buffet breakfast and the Mon-Tue-Wed social hours. Then they closed the spa and gym. We’re at a one bedroom Staybridge Suites with a full kitchen so it could be worse. We are managing with the only trips out for pharmacy or food. I do that since Judy is compromised. Her Doc decided that he could no longer continue the treatments, which is understandable so now we head home next week after one more treatment. It’s been a struggle. Thankfully we have strong WIFI for our tablets and laptop. We don’t watch TV except for one hour in the evenings to catch the virus update. Cooking on two burners with limited cookware is a real juggle of pans and such. I had lots of practice with two burners and a small galley when I lived on my boat. I’m glad to be going home early although Florida may not let us back in because our rental van has New York Plates. 🙂
If I ever had thoughts of moving back North these cold, dreary days killed those thoughts forever.
Stay well and do your usual great job for FEMA.
Not much has really changed here for us. Heather is still virtual schooling. Mikey has started distance learning in the mornings and works on packets in the evening. He’s got some added duties at home to fulfill the ‘work’ requirement, but overall he’s happy with it. I am still at my ‘essential’ job thankfully, as many people I am helping are trying to fax or scan documents for unemployment or state assistance. It’s going to be a lonely Easter though!!
No pictures Jeff.. I tried it on Apple and Microsoft
Woohoo! Glad to have you back. And it’s good to know there are good businesses out there.
Thanks Heather!
That’s very interesting! I didn’t know. 🙂
